Guest 250k Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 I've noticed recently that the bite point on my clutch is getting lower and lower first thing in the morning - now about 1 inch off the floor - has anyone else had experience of this and is there an easy remedy? I've also noticed that the change from 4th to 3rd now has a crunch in it unless you change gear slowly and carefully - could it be related? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Could be related - has the cable stretched (is is cable or hydraulic?). Self-adjusting mechanism gone wrong? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 All Hydraulic - sounds like seals or air - BTW mine has always been 1 inch from the floor (clutch not crutch). Quote
Guest 250k Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Thanks for the responses - I believe this is a hydraulic clutch and when the garage has looked at it, they claim the clutch is on it's way out. They reckon the easiest cure is a new clutch which is Quote
Guest 250k Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 And so to the end of the saga. The clutch pedal headed for the floor a week yesterday and it was the clutch master cylinder. The second one in 5 months but fortunately not the clutch itself. Beware Ford Garages that just try and sell you the most expensive part to fix a lesser problem - Quote
